idle thought
Is it sexism that we never asked the following of Governor George W. Bush of Texas back in 2000:

- Would a Bush White House look to make significant shifts in US monetary policy? Why or why not?
- What newspapers or magazines did you read regularly before running for president?
- What are some Supreme Court decisions that you disagree with?

On the other hand, we did get memorable answers asking him about:

- The Clinton Doctrine
- his lack of foreign policy credentials

Whatever happened to this Sarah Palin?

Holy crap. She actually sounds intelligent, confident, and is what I'd like to see in women in politics (even if she is a Republican :-P). What DID happen to her?! Suddenly she's pandering to the lowest common denominator.

My theory is that she was prepared to be a mayor and a governor, but NOT a VP (or President, God forbid).

I think it's even more simple than that-- she's genuinely a smart woman, and it shows when it comes to issues that she lives with and has taken the time to understand in depth.

She has shown us she can eventually memorize some of these answers about bigger national and international issues, but she probably doesn't really care about them (yet). Her mistake in 2008 was saying yes when she should have said, "I'm not ready yet."
