Dragon Age: Origins PS3

Does anyone know if this game is region free on the PS3? A friend of mine is PCSing to a new base this Friday & I got him hooked on the game today, but the shop on base isn't selling it & I'd like to buy him a UK copy as a present!

So does anyone know if a UK copy would work on a US PS3 console? I only own a 360 so I'm clueless on anything PS3-related.

Thanks :]

mmmm hangover.

So I didn't invite everyone I knew, but I did invite a fair number of folks to our housewarming partee. We now have 2 coolers full of beer that we didn't have before, more bottles of wine, and about a dozen pounds of meat in the fridge.

anyone want to have another party? I wonder if there's a limit on the increase in stuff...

I grilled all night, and Brandon said I looked happy. Which is awesome. He did drinks in our kitchen/bar area, and Bev helped with veggie everythings. We had the usual burgers/dogs/sausage fare, and also kabobs of marinated veggies, shrimp, unmarinated veggies, portabello mushrooms, and all kinds of stuff. :)

it was lovely.

Softspots Reagan Black Leather Boots

Hello!

I live near Davis Square and have just received a pair of Softspots Reagan Black leather knee-high boots from Amazon. They are beautiful and incredibly comfortable--the only problem is that my legs don't fit into the calf part just right.

Rather than pay the shipping fee to return the boots, I'm hoping to find them a home here.

Here's a link to the zappo's page that has detailed info about them: http://www.zappos.com/softspots-reagan

They're size 7.5, black calfskin, medium width and completely unworn. These would be great for someone who's had trouble finding boots that are wide enough.

I'm selling them for $135. If you're interested, please let me know by responding to this post! I would definitely be willing to negotiate a drop-off.

Seeking apartment for January–August

I'm looking for an apartment in approximately the Davis Square area from January through August 2010 (maybe longer?) I'll be working at Basis Technology (at Alewife) during that time period, but I'll also be traveling regularly to the Powderhouse Square area. Proximity to the bike path and the T are both a plus.

A photo of me.

I'm a 25 year old male majoring in Computer Science at Northeastern University—Basis is where I'm going for co-op, before I finish my Bachelor's in the fall. I grew up in Charlottesville, VA, but I've fallen in love with Boston as a place where academics and artists and engineers meet. My personality is some mix of geek, nature boy, academic, hacker, athlete, engineer, activist, and idealist.

I don't smoke, I don't drink, and I don't do any drugs... besides dark chocolate. Pets are a plus. No environmental allergies.

I'm a social person, but am averse to parties where people are actively trying to get drunk. I do like parties where people are actively trying to have interesting conversations.

I'm a considerate housemate: I clean up any messes I make in common space in a timely manner, I keep the volume down when others are studying or sleeping, and I'll happily buy common supplies as needed. It's important for me that my flatmates do the same.

I am very liberal regarding lifestyles and orientations. I don't care about a flatmate's sexual orientation, political views, race/ethnicity, gender identification, etc. I do abhor anti-intellectualism, intolerance, wastefulness, and disrespect for personal and common space.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you think we would get along well as flatmates, whether you have an apartment or need another person to enter a lease.

Random other personality droppings:

  • I see the place I live as a refuge and a home base. It has to be a place where I can at times hide from the stupid world out there.
  • Do you have a balcony or a garden? My dad is a gardener, so I love to grow plants, usually for food. As such, a bedroom window, porch, or corner of yard with lots of light is a major plus.
  • I have a long term partner who lives in the area. Sometimes I'll spend a couple days at her place, or vice versa.
  • I've really gotten into cooking recently, and it would be awesome if the other flatmates are into cooking as well.

Parking

Here's a verbatim cut/paste of an email I received, updating the permit parking regs.

Hello, this is Jackie Rossetti from the City of Somerville with important information about changes in permit parking regulations. Effective on January 4, 2010, all streets not currently under permit parking rules will shift to permit parking. A City contractor will begin erecting signs on affected streets starting tomorrow, Monday November 16th. All new signs will be in place by Friday, December 18th, but enforcement of permit regulations at these new locations will not begin until January 4th. In the meantime, the City will flyer all vehicles parked on newly permitted streets to remind drivers of the change, and will issue additional phone and email messages as we approach the implementation date. Resident parking stickers, visitor permits and all other permits are available immediately from the Traffic and Parking offices at 133 Holland Street: residents can save time by not waiting until the last minute to obtain their permits. For more information about how to obtain permits, please visit the City’s website at www.somervillema.gov or call 311 during normal business hours. Thank you.

Did anyone get the Pagliuca's poll last evening?

I got a call asking who I plan to vote for in the election and how certain I am, because "my opinion is important". Call ended by saying to visit the Pagliuca site. But caller did not say in advance she was from the Pagliuca campaign. Is that legal?

Edit: I removed "push" from the title...

Curly Hair?

Hi I checked the tags and didn't see exactly what I was looking for.

Does anyone know of a good place to get curly hair cut?

I lived in the Davis Square area years ago and recently moved back, and it seemed like there has been a lot of changes since I lived here. I was walking down Mass Ave, between Porter and Harvard, and it seemed like there were a ton of new places.

I'm willing to pay up to $45 dollars for a really good cut. I was also thinking of maybe getting some color done, but I'm not as concerned about that. The cut is more of a priority. I'm looking kind of shaggy here, folks.

Lock in a price for natural gas this winter?

Normally, I wouldn't. But the Farmer's Almanac and Accuweather say that it will probably be colder and snowier than usual, which would increase demand, which would raise prices... So I figured I'd ask DSLJ.

Do you think the price of natural gas is going to rise this winter? Are you opting for the NSTAR fixed winter rate of $0.7903 per therm?

In honour of the Angry Video Game Nerds reviews of the Castlevania marathon I decided to start my own marathon of playing as many of the games in the series as I can get. So far I have access in some way to almost all the 2D games, except for the ones on the DS and PSP, the ones on the Nintendo 64 and the two 3D titles for the PS2. I managed to track down copies of the PS2 games and I wanna know from Castlevania fans if they're worth spending money on? I can pick them both up for less than 15 dollars each.

Everybody's Sick

A plague ran rampant among the people who were involved with the big Halloween show at the Somerville Theatre (including me). The earliest-afflicted are now recovering, but many are still in the heavy throes of flu/bronchitis/pneumonia/etc symptoms. I'm curious how the rest of the neighborhood is doing. Have you gotten ill in the past month? Is anyone in need of help?

EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION: The local outbreak did not originate at the Somerville Theatre, and fortunately their staff was spared. Sorry if it sounded otherwise!
